Our History
The Rushing Wind Biker Church, Long Island, was the extension of a biker outreach ministry into the Long Island motorcycle community. After a few years at an event, an MC member asked, “when are we going to have a biker church on Long Island?” I We had at that point visited and see a few biker churches in California and North Carolina and the new trend of churches. That was the seed that started the vision. Our ministry had a close connection with a local Baptist church where we held our Friday night Bible Studies, and June 14th 2009 the Rushing Wind Biker Church was born. A church that was no different at the time Newsday did a cover story in the Life section of the paper on us.
Been a wild ride with a winding and at times bumpy road. It seems to be why a lot of the people who attend, Most can relate to winding and bumpy road of life and are looking for a rest stop. Jesus did say “Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” And everyone deep inside we are all looking for a home. A place to come where family is and you can be yourself.
It’s been almost 17 years now and we have persevered 2 moves, a pandemic, many challenges and trials, growing pains, cleansing pains and changing times, but here we are. A cozy and close family of faith that holds on to Jesus together through the rough seas of life, stormy trials and the challenges that come with people that have and are going through life being life. Although we began from a biker ministry outreach we have developed into a church from many walks of life, economic and social backgrounds. Though some ride, a good portion don’t but it is a beauty of the diversity a church was meant to be. And when you enter our building a sign saying Welcome Home, we’ve left the light on for you will greet you.
And as our opening video ends… Welcome to Our Church!
